Hey there, I’m Rick Whitmore.
This site has basically been designed as an online portfolio to feature
samples of some of the images I’ve created for a variety of purposes over time.
It will also function as a personal forum for anything I wish to present.
All of the artwork, graphics, illustration, design, photography, retouching and
composition on this site is my own original work unless otherwise noted. Much of the
lettering is mine as well, though existing fonts are also used in some cases.
I’m sure the site will change over time, items will be added and taken away.
There are always new projects in progress and always old ones to be found.
I started my career at Hallmark Cards, where I was an “artist engraver”. This meant
that I basically did relief sculpture in reverse, using a high-powered air grinder to cut
metal dies. These dies were used to create the embossed effects on cards, albums, etc.
I then moved on to digital imagery, working full-time for several years doing retouch,
comp, color work and some design for a Los Angeles company that has shifted name and
ownership a number of times over the years and is currently known as CRUSH CREATIVE.
Here I had a hand in image work done for many of the major studios (WB, Fox, Paramount,
Disney, MGM, etc.), as well as for a huge variety of other clients including Apple,
Frederick’s of Hollywood, the Gap, Nike, Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch and
many, many more.
My most creatively satisfying work, however, has always been my personal work,
done for myself and for (and with) a variety of extremely talented performers.
